C.U.L Manages To Execute A Spectacular Freestyle Calisthenics Event Just Before Lockdown

On the 5th of September 2020 C.U.L. Partner up with Brixton Street Gym to host a U.K. Calisthenics Championship. (Bar Brawl Brixton 2020)

With the shocking current affairs that have griped all of us around the world, the future of calisthenics sports games certainly was one of the industries threatened, along with various other sectors in the fitness industry. No doubt, this has challenged how we, as an industry, must operate in order to continue. That is why we as an organisation strive to double the efforts to evolve in order to stay current and innovative on our quest to establish calisthenics sports games as a worldwide recognized sport.

The 14th of September 2019 was Royal Rumble 2, C.U.L’s Last Calisthenics sports Games, which was a Universal league battle clash that included reps and freestyle face offs. Athletes from various European countries that included Denmark, Spain, Netherlands and more was invited to the U.K. for this championship bout. It was an absolute spectacle, with hundreds from surrounding communities including the electrifying U.K. calisthenics community came out to be a part of this ordeal.

It was another day to go down in the U.K. calisthenics history books. A day that Champions was made.

With a whole year nearly closing in from this epic ordeal, C.U.L. was determined to deliver another competition as part of our commitment to grow the U.K. calisthenics scene, so to continue to uplift the surrounding communities and change lives of aspiring athletes.

 

Bar Brawl Brixton 2020 Official C.U.L U.K Calisthenics Championship Games.

On the 5th of September 2020 C.U.L partnered up with Brixton Street Gym to host a U.K Calisthenics Championship Games (Bar Brawl Brixton 2020)

Only U.K aspiring athletes was allowed to participate in this Ordeal.

 

The build-up leading up to the event

The press conference saw Chino Achunine C.U.L ambassador announce the events line up which included male and female rep faceoffs as well as male and female freestyle battles.

In total, 5 aspiring athletes stepped forward to take part in the male’s reps while 3 females stepped forward for the female reps. 10 aspiring freestyle athletes in total stepped forward to grip the stage for the 10-man elimination freestyle tournament. While four females also took part in a four way freestyle elimination battle. Lastly, the highly anticipated battle Between star boy the international freestyle veteran and Goku the up and comer was the official event main event.

C.U.L. once again took the opportunity to stay innovative, by introducing pay per view accessibility to allow home viewers a chance to be a part of this ordeal, which saw hundreds of home viewers tuned in to support and witness Bar Brawl Brixton 2020.

V.A.R. (Video-assisted referee) was also present to ensure the judging was fair.

The Four elected judges for the freestyle tournaments were jay Chris (bar Sparta) judging the combo and creative flow, Simoen Ming judging the Power, Ricky warren (Rix Official) judging the Statics and Seb (life of a bar breaker) judging the dynamics.

The reps judge that was present was Supa. Calisthenics and Jermaine Straker.

The Event Experience 

Everything about the day from the weather to the ambience of the supporters who came to witness the ordeal was just perfect.

The first battle faceoffs to go down was the 3-way female Reps clash between, Clare livemore, Ebony Hardiman (ejayink) and Kelly Cho.

Rules of the competition stated that all three athletes had to perform three separate exercises, namely pushups, pull-ups and dips (strict form). 1 min was allocated for each exercise, the athlete with must amount of reps across the three exercises will be deemed the winner and will become C.U.L. Bar Brawl Brixton female reps champion 2020.

All three female athletes showed tremendous zeal and determination. Still, after the rounds were completed, Ebony Hardiman (ejayink) was victorious with 91 total reps across all three exercise thereby becoming Bar Brawl Brixton Female Reps Champion 2020.

The second battles to go down was the men’s reps faceoff which saw five athletes namely Matthew Ruiz, Michael Cachia, Dillon (Seiko.furo), Ibrahim (bar Sparta) & Alexander Perez go head to head for a bar brawl Brixton 2020 championship title.

Rules of the competition stated that all five athletes had to perform four separate exercises, namely muscle-ups, pushups, pull-ups and dips (strict form). 1 min was allocated for each exercise, the athlete with must amount of reps across the four exercises will be deemed the winner and will become C.U.L. Bar Brawl Brixton Male Reps champion 2020.

All five male athletes showed tremendous zeal and determination, but unfortunately what seemed to be a challenge from V.A.R. investigation into the judging of the male reps, resulted to the clash being voided leaving the championship title vacant 2020. The next spectacle that took place was the 10 men freestyle elimination tournament which saw 10 determined athletes go head to head to determine the Bar Brawl Brixton tournament champion 2020. All athletes showed incredible strength and heart; however, the athletes to make it to the finals were namely Demitri Alvanis and Diesel (B.W.O.). After two rounds of high-flying dynamics and incredible displays of strength from both athletes, Diesel (B.W.O.) rose up victorious and became the 2020 Bar Brawl Brixton Freestyle tournament Champion.

The next performance that took place was the 4 female freestyle elimination tournament which saw 4 determined female athletes go head to head to become the Bar Brawl Brixton female freestyle champion. All athletes showed incredible strength and heart; however, the two athletes to make it to the finals were namely `Immy Hales and Joseline Orejuela. After two rounds of high-flying dynamics and incredible displays of strength from both female’s, Immy Hales rose up victorious and became the 2020 Bar Brawl Brixton Female Freestyle Champion. Then lastly was the highly anticipated main event which told a classic tale of an upcoming underdog Kammell (Goku), set to go up against an established veteran in the game, Star boy. For his chance to rise up in the ranks and become an official international athlete.

What a battle this was, with Goku displaying an incredible show of power, dynamics and statics. At the same time, Star boy equally rose to the occasion to match his opponents energy, with elite level dynamic transfers and combos.

However, after three rounds of breath-taking gravity-defying moments, what seemed to be a missed high bar swing 540 from Star boy and incredible endurance from Goku lead the judges to declare Goku the winner.
